The Programme is committed to promoting gender equality, equal opportunity, and embracing diversity. Aligned with SDG 16, which focuses on building effective and inclusive institutions, the Programme encourages applications from a wide range of candidates. This includes individuals with disabilities, those belonging to minority or disadvantaged groups, and those whose gender identity goes beyond the male/female binary.

The primary objectives of the Programme are to cultivate future leaders, enhance in-country capacity to achieve national Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) targets, and foster positive relationships with Ireland.

By supporting graduates upon their return to their home countries, the Programme aims to empower them with the skills needed to contribute to capacity building in their respective fields. These graduates are expected to become the next generation of leaders and develop enduring personal and professional connections with Ireland, thereby promoting institutional linkages between the two countries.
